Be careful when sewing merino fabric that you use the right needle. Merino is a knit fabric and needs a ballpoint or jersey needle. This type of needle pushes the merino fibres apart when sewing rather than piercing the fibre which can make holes along the stitch line. 

Remember to also use a stretch stitch.
